My client is currently seeking a SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (PROTECTION & CONTROL) SUBSTATION to work as part of a wholly owned subsidiary of a larger European Group of Companies that operate as an engineering, construction, concession, services, and real estate promotion company. They focus on integrated project management in the energy, telecommunications, construction, industry, hydraulics, environment, control, security, and services sectors.

Your duties would entail, however are not limited to;

- Creating design documents and drawings for a project, including creating wiring diagrams from schematics, generating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings with minimal supervision
- Performing Engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations with minimal supervision
- Applying engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies
- Applying engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
- Applying engineering application software (including CDEGS, SKM, ETAP, ASPEN and Vendor software) to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies
- Communicating and coordinate project activities with other disciplined engineers, customer representatives, and others as needed
- Providing guidance to lesser experienced team members and lead team to complete projects on-time and under/within budgets
- Travelling out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments

Prerequisite Qualifications;

Education/Experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, with a power background.
- 10+ Years Experience in HV Power Systems in the following areas:
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals, three phase power systems, and per-unit mathematics and symmetrical components
- Demonstrated ability to program GE, Multilin, ABB and SEL Protective Relays for transformer, bus, differential and feeder protection with some exposure to transmission protection settings
- Experience in application of relays and metering in an electrical substation from 13.8kV to at least 345kV preferred
- Design and application of protective device logic and settings preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions
- Knowledge of design documents and drawings necessary to complete a project
- Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSIOther
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is required (if licensed in another state must be able to obtain a license Texas within six months from date of hire)
- Willingness to travel (project engineers' travel level is typically 10%)
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Self-motivation and independence; capable of executing all substation tasks with no supervision
- Ability to work well with other team members, clients, and outside consultants
