We are seeking three Shift Control Operation Technicians and a Day Control Operating Technician, to take responsibility for the operational control of the UK Wind Portfolio, including plant control, operation and monitoring of Wind assets. You will undertake a broad range of duties including recording/monitoring access of staff and contractors at wind farm sites; analysing PCM outputs to promote pre-emptive maintenance; recording plant performance, release and return to service; managing output, forecast and instruction in liaison with Output Management; monitoring weather forecast and agreeing generation schedules for wind plant; and monitoring plant alarms and responding appropriately.

Authorised under Wind Turbine Safety Rules, you will provide an effective interface between Renewables departments, RWEST, STPM, NGET Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s) and others, as well as handling the Front Line Emergency Co-Ordination for external and internal business units. You’ll ensure all the relevant authorisations and safety paperwork are available prior to release of plants, and you will also provide back up support for other control locations for business continuity purposes.

With a working knowledge of plant control, monitoring systems and NETA trading arrangements, you will also have good commercial and electricity trading awareness. You’ll be experienced in maintenance management and ideally Plant Operations/Maintenance, and you might also have Wind knowledge, although more important is your awareness of Health and Safety, and Environmental issues. Flexible, forward thinking and dedicated to high standards you will be capable of working effectively as part of a team, as well as independently, and you will be skilled at delivering quality during peak workflow. Lastly you will have good communications, numeracy and literacy skills.
