Renewables Applications Team Manager
£38,335 - £44,880 pa plus benefits
Based in Exeter
This is an excellent opportunity to join a unique and well-reputed organisation that’s home to some of the world’s leading technological and scientific minds.
The role
As a Scientific Manager in our Customer Applications area, with an initial focus on the wind energy sector, you’ll be central to the ongoing development of our renewables business. We’ll look to you to provide focus and direction to our renewables science programme, being accountable for the delivery of the science plan and influencing thinking in the renewables industry at large. You’ll manage your own small team of consultants and will be a core member of a cross organisation stakeholder group that determines both tactical and strategic direction and informs our growth plans.
You’ll work with world-leading scientists at all levels in the organisation, many of whom have been active in relevant science areas for decades, to ensure that we’re exploiting our science capabilities to the full for the benefit of our customers. As well as this internal science focus, you’ll build relationships with customers and industry leaders to understand their requirements and influence industry thinking in this area.
The person
We’re looking for an authority in wind energy-relevant meteorology, with a demonstrable track record in developing and exploiting scientific capabilities for wind resource assessment and/or wind energy production forecasts. You’ll be able to call on your substantial experience in meteorological science, have a deep understanding of the interaction of meteorology with wind energy assets and a proven track record of delivering significant R&D projects.
You’ll be a strong communicator, with the ability to engage scientists and informed customers. Hence the need to be recognised as an authority in your field. Scientific integrity will be central to all that you do in keeping with the Met Office brand.
